How to Connect Gemini to LinkedIn
Short answer: add a LinkedIn MCP server, as a custom app in the Gemini app or as an MCP server in Antigravity. Both can call tools from MCP servers. Add LinkMCP, a hosted LinkedIn MCP server, and Gemini can look up profiles, search people, read your LinkedIn inbox and draft posts with you. Which steps you follow depends on the Gemini product you use.
Which Gemini do you use?
- The Gemini app (gemini.google.com and the mobile app): add LinkMCP as a custom app. Google allows this for personal Google Accounts in the US, for people aged 18 or over, with Keep Activity on, in English.
- Antigravity (Antigravity 2.0, the Antigravity IDE and Antigravity CLI): add LinkMCP to
mcp_config.json. - Gemini CLI: on 2026-06-18, Google stopped serving Gemini CLI requests for Google AI Pro and Ultra users and for free users, and moved them to Antigravity CLI. Organizations with a Gemini Code Assist Standard or Enterprise license, and paid API key users, can still use it. Steps for them are at the end.
The Gemini app: add LinkMCP as a custom app
- On a computer, go to gemini.google.com.
- Click Settings → Connected Apps.
- Under Custom apps, click Add a custom app.
- Paste this address:
https://app.linkmcp.io/api/mcp
LinkMCP supports dynamic client registration, so you do not need to enter credentials under Advanced features. - Click Next and follow the steps. A LinkMCP window opens. Sign in with your email (you get a 6-digit code) or with Google, and approve the access. A new LinkMCP account starts with the 7-day free trial.
- In a chat, type @ and select LinkMCP, so Gemini uses it for that prompt.
You connect the custom app in the web app. After that, you can use it in the Gemini mobile app too.
Antigravity: add LinkMCP to mcp_config.json
Antigravity reads MCP servers from ~/.gemini/config/mcp_config.json (all workspaces) or from .agents/mcp_config.json (one workspace).
- Open the file. In the Antigravity IDE, click the three dots at the top of the agent side panel, select MCP Servers, then Manage MCP Servers, then View raw config.
- Add LinkMCP to
mcpServers. If the file already lists other servers, add only thelinkmcpentry:{ "mcpServers": { "linkmcp": { "serverUrl": "https://app.linkmcp.io/api/mcp" } } }Antigravity needs the keyserverUrl. It does not readurlorhttpUrl. - Save the file and refresh the MCP server list.
- Sign in. Open the agent settings (Cmd+, on macOS, Ctrl+, on Windows and Linux), go to the Customizations tab and click Authenticate next to linkmcp. Sign in to LinkMCP in your browser, copy the authorization code, paste it back and click Submit.
In Antigravity CLI, type /mcp to see whether linkmcp is connected.
Prompts to try first
These work in the free trial, before you connect your own LinkedIn account:
@LinkMCP look up [profile URL] and give me a short brief: role, company, time in the role, anything notable.
Use linkmcp to get the recent posts of [company page URL] and list their product news.
These need your LinkedIn account connected (a paid plan):
Use linkedin_search_people to find product managers in Munich in the software industry, and show ten in a table.
Show my unread LinkedIn messages and draft a reply to each. Do not send anything.
Gemini CLI, if it still works for you
Run:
gemini mcp add --transport http --scope user linkmcp https://app.linkmcp.io/api/mcp
--scope user adds LinkMCP for all folders. Without it, Gemini CLI adds it only to the current project. Start gemini: a browser window opens for the LinkMCP sign-in. If it does not, type /mcp auth linkmcp.
Can this put my LinkedIn account at risk?
Yes, it can. Any automated use of LinkedIn can put an account at risk, and no tool can promise that LinkedIn will not restrict an account. LinkMCP puts daily limits and pacing on every action through your account, and a warm-up limit on connection requests for new or quiet accounts. That lowers the risk. It does not remove it. The limits are on our security page. Our guide on LinkedIn automation risk explains what can trigger a restriction.
What it costs
LinkMCP starts with a 7-day free trial, and you do not need a credit card. In the trial, profile and company lookups, posts and post comments, and email and phone lookups work. Searches, messages, posting and Sales Navigator act through your own LinkedIn account, and connecting it needs a paid plan. Starter costs $19 per month. New trials get their first month of Starter for $9.50.

FAQ
Can I connect my LinkedIn to Gemini?
Yes, through a LinkedIn MCP server such as LinkMCP: as a custom app in the Gemini app, or as an MCP server in Antigravity.
Can I use custom apps in the Gemini app outside the US?
Not today. Google's help page says custom apps need a personal Google Account, an age of 18 or over, a location in the US, and Keep Activity on (checked 2026-10-05).
Does the gemini mcp add command still work?
Only where Gemini CLI still serves requests: with a Gemini Code Assist Standard or Enterprise license, or a paid API key. Antigravity reads its own file, mcp_config.json.
Does Gemini ask before it acts on LinkedIn?
Google says the Gemini app asks you to confirm write actions from custom apps. Antigravity asks for approval before an MCP tool runs, unless you allowed it.
LinkMCP is a hosted LinkedIn MCP server. Add it to Gemini or Antigravity once and use 34 LinkedIn tools. No browser extension and no LinkedIn session on your machine. Start a free trial.
