How to Connect Claude Code to LinkedIn
Short answer: run one claude mcp add command, then sign in with /mcp. Claude Code can call tools from MCP servers. Add LinkMCP, a hosted LinkedIn MCP server, and Claude Code can look up profiles, search people, read your LinkedIn inbox and publish posts while it works with your files.
Step by step
- In your terminal, run:
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user linkmcp https://app.linkmcp.io/api/mcp
--scope usermakes LinkMCP available in all your projects. Without it, Claude Code adds the server only to the current project. - Start Claude Code with
claude, type/mcp, select linkmcp and choose Authenticate. - A browser window opens. Sign in to LinkMCP with your email (you get a 6-digit code) or with Google, and approve the access. A new LinkMCP account starts with the 7-day free trial.
- Check it with
claude mcp list. If the LinkedIn tools do not show up, restart Claude Code.
Claude Code asks for your permission before it uses a tool, unless you allowed that tool before. Read the input before you allow a write, such as linkedin_send_message or linkedin_create_post.
Prompts to try first
These work in the free trial, before you connect your own LinkedIn account:
prospects.txt has one LinkedIn profile URL per line. Look them up with linkedin_bulk_get_profiles and write a table with name, title and company to prospects.md.
Get the recent posts of [company page URL] with linkedin_get_company_posts and write a one-page summary of what they announced.
Find the work email of [name] at [company domain] with find_email, then check it with validate_email.
These need your LinkedIn account connected (a paid plan):
List my unread LinkedIn conversations from the last 7 days and write a draft reply to each in replies.md. Do not send anything.
Get the reactions on my latest LinkedIn post and score each person against the ideal customer in icp.md.
To publish what Claude wrote, see Post to LinkedIn from Claude. It also covers posting as a company page.
If it does not work
- linkmcp is not in the /mcp list: you probably ran the command in another project folder without
--scope user. Run it again with--scope user. - linkmcp shows as not authenticated: type
/mcp, select linkmcp and choose Authenticate again. - A tool says it needs a connected LinkedIn account: that tool acts through your own LinkedIn account. The message links to the plan page and to the LinkedIn connection.
Can this put my LinkedIn account at risk?
Yes, it can. Any automated use of LinkedIn can put an account at risk, and an agent can call a tool many times in a loop. LinkMCP puts daily limits and pacing on every action through your account, a warm-up limit on connection requests for new or quiet accounts, and a hard monthly usage cap on every plan. That lowers the risk. It does not remove it. The limits are on our security page. Our guide on LinkedIn automation risk explains what can trigger a restriction.
What it costs
LinkMCP starts with a 7-day free trial, and you do not need a credit card. In the trial, profile and company lookups, posts and post comments, and email and phone lookups work. Searches, messages, posting and Sales Navigator act through your own LinkedIn account, and connecting it needs a paid plan. Starter costs $19 per month. New trials get their first month of Starter for $9.50.
Claude on the web or Claude Desktop
In Claude on the web and in Claude Desktop, you add LinkMCP as a custom connector instead. The steps are in How to Connect Claude to LinkedIn. If you also use Codex, see How to Connect OpenAI Codex to LinkedIn.
FAQ
Is there an official LinkedIn connector for Claude Code?
No. Claude Code reaches LinkedIn through an MCP server that you add, such as LinkMCP.
Does a Claude Code skill for LinkedIn posts publish the post?
A skill helps Claude write. To publish, Claude needs a LinkedIn tool, for example linkedin_create_post from LinkMCP.
Should I use --scope user or the default scope?
Use --scope user if you want LinkedIn in every project. The default (local) scope adds the server only to the project folder where you ran the command.
Can I use the same LinkMCP account in Claude on the web?
Yes. Add the same server address as a custom connector in Claude. You connect your LinkedIn account only once, in LinkMCP.
LinkMCP is a hosted LinkedIn MCP server. Add it to Claude Code with one command and use 34 LinkedIn tools in your terminal. No browser extension and no LinkedIn session on your machine. Start a free trial.
